ABOUT ORDA ORDA was founded over 20 years ago by some of the same people responsible for the initial growth of the rent to own industry, and is one of the most active rent to own trade organizations in America. ORDA members' commitment to providing excellence in service to its customers make them some of the most successful rent to own professionals today. A recent study by an independent survey company indicates rent to own has the highest customer satisfaction rating of any industry in America* - and the majority of the 16,000 customers surveyed live in Ohio.
ORDA members are committed to their customers and lobby on their behalf regularly in Washington D.C., asking the U.S. Congress pass federal legislation protecting their customers' right to obtain the products they want and need, using a transaction that makes sense. ORDA was instrumental in assisting Ohio legislators craft a statute in 1988 governing the transaction that serves as a model bill other states have looked to for guidance in creating the necessary legal protection for businesses and consumers alike. 47 states now have enacted safe-harbor legislation.
ORDA members are also committed to their employees. ORDA hosts the annual Midwest RTO Training Expo, which brings in vendors from all over the country to teach store managers more about the products and services they provide to their customers. In 2008, the Expo featured 50 vendors and over 300 attendees. 27 Rent-to-own companies from 9 states participated.
ORDA is governed by an elected board of directors representing rent to own dealers and vendors. Click here for the list of current board of directors.
